Welcome to my brand new shiny website and blog. Thank you so much for stopping by.
My journey up until this point has been an interesting one, from my humble yoga-beginnings in a BodyBalance class, having no idea what I was doing to teaching yoga. On thursday night I taught my first class since becoming a yoga teacher, the first in my Basics of Yoga. It was a great feeling! If you asked me a year ago about teaching yoga classes I would have probably given you a little chuckle and said 'no, but maybe someday...' (meaning probably never). But here we are. This time last year we were preparing our house in Clackmannanshire for sale and making arrangements to move up to the Highlands. Somewhere in the midst of the chaos of relocating, I decided to book Brenda Louw's ChillOut Yoga 200 hour teacher training. I have learned so much about myself (and yoga) on my course, what we are capable of, what the body can do and far I have come since BodyBalance and before. We all have our own perceptions on what yoga is and our own hang-ups about who can and can't practise it, not flexible enough, not thin enough, not strong enough etc. Well, anyone can practice and benefit from yoga, whether you want to do it for stress relief and relaxation, or you prefer the physicality of strength and flexibility. Anyone can do it, and everyone will benefit, and in ways that might surprise you. A quote from the highly respected yogi T.K.V. Desikachar that has stuck with me recently, "We begin from where we are, whatever happens, happens." (The Heart of Yoga: Developing a Personal Practice; pg 7). We can only begin a journey from where we are at that time. Yoga is a journey with no destination, it is constantly changing, learning and growing...
